PANAPA AND THE MOUNTAIN FARIES: Co-writers Phil Mark and Rosemary Daverne

This tale is about Panapa, a wise old village elder, who tends the sick and elderly of his village with a special Fairy Juice. This juice comes from a vine growing in the mountain forests, the domain of the Mountain Fairies. One day, Panapa takes a young boy, Te Pou, with him to collect the Fairy Juice. Things go terribly wrong for these two.

Seven songs arranged for piano accompaniment with chords, lead line with guitar chords, tuned and untuned percussion.

Suitable for 8-12 year olds. Duration 25 - 30 mins.

THE FLOATING ISLAND: Co-writers Phil Mark and Rosemary Daverne

This is the second tale about Panapa, a wise old village elder and a young girl called Rona, who had an unusual dream about a Floating Island. The people of the village would not believe her dream. Dreams are not always what they seem.

THE BROTHERS THREE: Janet Grierson and Rosemary Daverne

The story is based on the classical fairy tale idea, with a King, a kidnapped princess and her rescuers, The Brothers Three. All with a happy ending.

YOUNG MOZART: Co-writers Janet Grierson and Rosemary Daverne

Tom Stone is young man of uncertain age. He is a music teacher. A good music teacher who loves talking about the fun of making music. He loves travel, but he can also be a dreamer. In this musical adventure, Tom meets young Mozart. Was it a dream or was he mystically transported back to another time and place?

TIDDALIK THE FROG: Co-writer Cheril McDonnell

This is a story from a long time ago, in what the Aborigines call the "Dreamtime".

Tiddalik is the largest, greediest and ugliest frog ever known. He endangers the lives of the other animals by drinking all the water. The animals come up with a plan hoping to make Tiddalik laugh and return the water to the land.

Five songs arranged for piano accompaniment, guitar chords, lead line, tuned and untuned percussion.

Suitable for 8-10 year olds. Duration 15 - 20 mins.

ROBYN HOOD: OUTLAW PRINCESS: Co-writer John Reynolds

Robyn Hood: Outlaw Princess is a ‘pop’ musical, based loosely on the traditional tales of Robin Hood, with Robyn portrayed as a female leading a female band of outlaws. It is essentially a fantasy, the setting is timeless. The characters can be played by actors from any ethnic or cultural group and is written for unlimited cast numbers, predominantly female.

Instrumentation is for rhythm section (piano – with chords, guitar, bass and drums) with optional woodwind and brass or synthesizer. It is possible to perform this work with any combination of these instruments, or piano only.

Sixteen songs, some solo, all written in low singable keys.

Suitable for 10 years and over. Duration 100 mins. Approx. HIRE ONLY




THE CATS OF PONSONBY: Co-writer Rae Prowse

This popular musical takes place in the courtyard at the back entrance to a restaurant. A gang of hungry Alley Cats waits outside the back door hoping form some scraps of food. Frustrated that the three Burmese House cats are pampered, Kitten is kidnapped for a ransom of food. This sets off a chain of events that involves the rival cat gangs of Big Tom’s Thugs and the Media Mob. Complications, skirmishes and a romance arise. All’s well that ends well.

Fifteen songs with optional solos, suitable for large or small cast.

Arranged for piano accompaniment only, or with guitar, 4 tuned and untuned percussion, two flutes, bass and drums.

Suitable for 8-12 year olds. Duration 60 mins. Approx. HIRE ONLY




DIDDIKAI (Gypsy Girl): Co-writer Ruth Hamilton

Richi is a ‘half-gypsy’ orphan girl. When her Aunt dies, she is left destitute. At school the children dislike her. She is too different from them. Their dislike leads to hatred and violence. The children mob Richi and think that they have killed her. Later full of remorse they try to make amends only to find Richi too stubborn, too proud, perhaps too deeply hurt.

Diddikai can be presented entirely as a choral work with a narrator or alternatively may be staged as a full production with either small or large groups.

The story is narrated with ample opportunity for extensive dancing and acting.

Nine songs with optional solos, arranged for piano accompaniment only, or with guitar, tuned and untuned percussion, two flutes, bass and drums.

Suitable for 8-12 year olds. Duration 35 mins. Approx. HIRE ONLY>

JOHN HOBBS – A MAN WITH A MISSION: Librettist: Dorothy Tomlinson

This Two Act Opera is a historic story of a young man who travels from England via Australia, in the early 1820's, to become anordained minister and set up a Wesleyan Mission in the Hokianga, in Northland, New Zealand.

The story portrays the relationships, frustrations, conflicts and troubled times with the early settlers, the native Maori people and their Chiefs, especially Chief Te Aara, Tamati Waka Nene and Patuone, culminating in the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi at Horeke, in the Hokianga. The New Zealand song comes from this Musical.

Suitable for mature performers. Duration 2 hours Approx.
